Two Worlds Collide

D&AD North Lecture 2 – Two Worlds Collide (Danny Brooke-Taylor, Flo Heiss)

I’ve been to a few very inspirational D&AD lectures and design gatherings the past years and I can say with certainty that this was one to remember. Apparently, as the speakers said, you only remember 30 seconds of every experience in your life, but in this case these 30 seconds are quite valuable!

Danny Brooke-Taylor with a traditional advertising background and Flo Heiss as a digital pioneer, in a very interesting, humorous and a bit theatrical way showed the “collision” of the two worlds. An unusual presentation that went through different stages and kept everyones attention to conclude to the fact that there is no collision after all.

We are all creative minds and get inspiration from everything that surrounds us: nature, city streets, books, internet, people we meet, places we’ve been etc. We all work for the same cause in the communication world, we just use different ways of doing it. There isn’t a battlefield, this is a great opportunity for “traditional creatives” and “digital creatives” to work together, learn from each other and create amazing things. We have to try push things to different dimensions. They say that there is no such thing as originality, but even though we all use things that have been used before, is what we do with them that matters and the outcome.

Danny’s and Flo’s collaboration is a great example to us all.
